Description

One of my best friends, Jenny, just got engaged to her boyfriend Rin, so I wanted to make something special to congratulate them with. A photo cushion seemed like the perfect idea and it was so much fun to make.

Instructions

  1. Small img 3774

Start by picking 16 photos you'd like to have on your cushion. Crop them down in to squares and add Instagram effects to give them a photostrip look. Arrange them in strips of 4 and print them on to transfer paper. I used one whole sheet plus a third of another, to make 4 strips.

  2. Small img 3775

Cut the photos out in to four strips, leaving a slight margin of white around the edges to resemble a paper photostrip.

  3. Small img 3776

Prepare the cushion by cutting two 12" x 12" squares of black fabric, and finding a matching zip.

  4. Small img 3777

Arrange the photostrips on one of the squares in a layout you like.

  5. Small img 3780

Remove the backing paper from the transfers, cover with baking paper and iron in place.

  6. Small img 3782

Iron all of the photostrips in place.

  7. Small img 3783

Pin the zip, facing downwards along the bottom of the fabric.

  8. Small img 3784

Sew along the edge, removing the pins as you go.

  9. Small img 3785

Pin the zip to the second rectangle of fabric and sew in place.

  10. Small img 3786

Unzip the zip (this is important to remember, or you won't be able to turn it inside out) and pin around the other edges.

  11. Small img 3787

Sew around the edges of your cushion.

  12. Small img 3788

Trim off any excess fabric and zip.

  13. Small img 3789

Fold inside out and you're all done.

Stuff with a cushion and admire your creation!
