Our friends Calum & Harriet got a new kitten called Starbuck and I was excited to meet him and make him a collar. I'd underestimated just how small a kitten was though so we'll have to wait a little longer to see how he suits it!

Crochet a chain of yarn to the same measurement of your elastic.
Cut the buckle strap in half and sew the elastic on to either side of the strap.
Row 2: Chain 1, dc1, decrease 1, dc next stitch - repeat until you hit the stitch marker. Row 3: Turn, chain 1, decrease 1, chain 1 until start of your collar. cast off.
Repeat Rows 2 & 3 on the other side of the stitch marker.
Measure your cat's neck and then cut a length of elastic about 2cm shorter than your measurement.
Get a name tag or stamp your own.
Place to one side for the moment.
Row 4: Chain 1, sc along the row but as you make each new stitch, slip the collar through the stitches as you go.
Tie off leaving a long tail and then use this to stitch your way back along the collar, over the elastic, to secure it even more.
Weave in your loose ends.
Embellish with a couple of cute beads.
Row 1: Chain 1, dc until last stitch - counting as you go and marking the 25th middle chain with a stitch marker.
Add the name tag and a bell.
You're all done but no comes the hard part... trying to get it on your cat!
