I found this in the series Book of Knowledge
an old Children's encyclopedia with information from 1875-1919.
It is loaded with things to learn, make, do, explore, etc.
I was searching for a tutorial on how to make perfume without all the junk we use now-a-days. Well, here it is!

You Will Need (5 things)
- Flower Petals Of Your Choice
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Salt
- Jam Jar And Lid
- Wadding Or Batting
Steps (11 steps, 20 minutes)
-
1
cut wadding to fit into the jar.
-
2
pour olive oil over wadding (not while it is in the jar though) and let stand.
-
3
take your flowers or petals and make sure they are freshly cut and dry of any surface water.
-
4
if full flowers, cut off petals
-
5
sprinkle the bottom of the jar with salt, barely covering the bottom.
-
6
add the petals on top of that.
-
7
add wadding on top of petals. Repeat last few steps.
-
8
once your jar is quite full, put a lid (plastic lid would work best, but use what you have) on the jar.
Let it sit in the sun for a fortnight.
-
9
after the fourteen days are up, you may leave it to set longer if you wish, or you may extract the oil.
-
10
to extract the oil, you can use anything to push the wadding together and extract the oil from it. The book says a large spoon works quite well.

mine is still setting, but I cannot wait until it's done. I'll update when I take a picture of the finished product and then I'll tell you how it came out! :)
