This is an earring I've created to teach beginners how to open and close jump rings.
This is an earring I've created to teach beginners how to open and close jump rings.
First, let's pick up one jump ring.
How to open a jump ring Now, using 2 flat nose or bent nose pliers grip the jump ring on both sides of the split. While holding the pliers move your hands in opposite directions, one plier towards you and the other pliers away from you. You will see the split opening up.
How to close a jump ring Once the jump ring is open, insert 7 close jump rings into the opened split. Now, close your jump ring by griping the jump ring on both sides of the split just like what you did in Step 2, but this time, move your hands towards each other and have the split meet again. You will see the split is closing.
Doing the same process of opening and closing jump rings, insert one jump ring in the following order: 1st & 2nd, 2nd & 3rd, 3rd * 4th and so and so forth until you reach your 7th jump ring.
Now, following the same procedure and order of inserting the jump rings as above attach your flat beads or chips.
Attach your ear wire. Follow the same steps for the other earring and voila, not only did you learn the proper way of opening and closing a jump ring but you also made yourself a beautiful pair of earrings!
