Find yourself some scraps of fabric. Mine are leftovers from a quilt i'm making. My measurements: waistband (cut 2)- 12"x5" main piece (cut 2)- 22"x14" This skirt turned out to be long on my little girl.
Sew your pieces together however you like. I have sewn the smaller scraps into strips then sewn these onto lengths of fabric.
Your main panels will look like this on the back.
Cut two panels for the waistband.
sew main panel pieces together and waistband panels together. Open out and press seams. Sew a long gathering stitch along the top of the main panel.
Lay the waistband down right side up. Lay the main panel on top of this right side down lining up the seam in the middle and the edges. Gather the main panel piece evenly to fit onto the waistband pinning in place. Sew.
Open out and press. Sew up side seam, open out and press.
Fold over the top of the waistband twice, press and sew in place. I open a hole in the seam of the waistband to thread the elastic through then i use a ladder stitch to close it up.
Fold over the hem twice, press and sew in place. I've used one of the decorative stitches on my machine for this step.
All done!!! Enjoy :)
