I love upcycling and working with colours. My worktable needed revamping and going through craft blogs i was inspired by the technique of papering .So this is what i decided to do.The project isnt hard , only time consuming. But totally worth it!:)
i lightly sanded down and cleaned out the grunge.
next i chose my paper. i love asterix comic illustrations and decided the sacrifice of my collection was worth it.It only took two comics to paper this entire work table.
I dug out some leftover wall primer from the store room and gave the table a once over. I started glueing the paper on while the paint was still tacky. It also helped the paper to adhere to the surface better. I worked systematically. Layered the glue thinly and pasted the sheets.Making sure to press down the paper to push out any air bubbles. For the legs i cut the pages in strips and pasted them making sure to overlap paper around the edges.
Finally after the papering was done i let it dry overnight and gave it four coats of lacquer, allowing drying time between coats. And thats it, all done!
