It can be expensive buying cute bows to pretty up your birthday and christmas gifts. And you may not find a bow in the right style or color. Use paper you already own, and make your own instead!
It can be expensive buying cute bows to pretty up your birthday and christmas gifts. And you may not find a bow in the right style or color. Use paper you already own, and make your own instead!
To make the paper bow I started out with pieces of white and red scrap paper. I cut four red pieces in the size 12 cm x 8 cm and two white pieces in the size 8 cm x 8 cm. You can make the bow any size you want, though.
Place double sided adhesive tape down the one side of all your pieces of paper,- like shown on the picture with the dotted line. On the larger ones, place your tape on the end that is 12 cm long.
Then it`s time to make paper rolls! Start on the side without tape and roll against the tape. Peel of the protective strip and attach at the end, so you end up with a paper roll looking like a straw,
When you have rolled your 6 pieces of paper into paper rolls, the next step involves a piercing tool. I used a needle, piercing down through the middle of all the rolls. One at a time.
Your rolls now should look like this. Pierced.
Now you need a big brad. Start stacking your rolls on to it, beginning with the shorter ones.
Spred the rolls as you stack them, to form a star shape.
It should now look something like this. Or prettier :)
Flip it around and secure your brad.
You can use your bow as is, but I attached a red button using glue, to the top, for some more MPFH :)
Use your new paper bow as you wish. I glued it to a christmas present, together with a homemade gift tag.
