This boring Ikea bookshelf was in our tiny bathroom to store towels.
I went around town to some paint stores and grabbed as many paint stirrers as the folks would provide...
Luckily no cutting was involved as these fit the dimensions of my shelf perfectly, so I just glued them in place with a very strong glue and weighed them down with books overnight to dry.
I wanted them to have an aged white washed look at first so I gave one coat of gray stain and then went back over with a dry brush alternating white and blue acrylic paint. But I didn't love it.
So I taped off some stripes and started measuring a graphic triangle pattern.
I used white craft paint and free handed the triangles.
This graphic pattern on top of the stain/ wash is SO much more fun and JUST the little bit of pattern I needed in this corner of our bland bathroom.
I screwed some holes and hung two basic hooks so there's a place for our towels when we're in the shower.
