Owl Cake

A cake almost too cute to eat! :D
I got to decorate my own birthday cake this year. My mom made devil's food cake and poured the batter into 3 round 8" cake pans. Once cooled, we layered the cakes with cream cheese frosting in between. We rounded the top of the cake and covered the cake in cream cheese frosting dyed brown. The eyes are just yellow frosting, with chocolate chips for pupils. The ears and beak are unwrapped Hersey's Kisses. The beak's Kiss is covered in orange frosting. The 'furry' look is created by mixing coconut with cocoa powder and then putting it on the drying frosting. :)
