About

I made the Cute&Simple Owl: http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/cutesimple-owl and I thought that I could make a bag the same way. Well, I think it's cute but it wasn't that simple. I hope you understand the tutorial, if not, feel free to ask me :)

You Will Need (7 things)

  • Notions: Thread , Scissors, Pins, Sewing Machine
  • Fabric
  • Safety Pin
  • 2 Button(s)
  • small piece Felt
  • 1 Press Stud
  • 1 Shoe Laces

Steps (23 steps, 120 minutes)

  1. 1

    Gather your stuff:
Sewing machine, fabric, buttons, scissors, thread, needle, shoe lace, pins, safety pin, press stud. I didn't use the blue buttons behind the black ones.

  2. 2

Cut a big and a small triangle. I cut two small triangles because the red fabric is not that strong.

  3. 3

Put the small triangle on the big triangle. Make sure the good sides are facing each other! The undersides don't fit, the sides do.

  4. 4

Insert the pins in the fabric

  5. 5

Cut the little triangle and tie it off so it looks neat. Sew around the needles.

  6. 6

Turn the inside in and the outside out.

  7. 7

Put the flap inside the bag. Insert the pins. Make sure the undersides touche each other.

  8. 8

    Sew a tunnel.

  9. 9

    Tie it off

  10. 10

Turn it inside out and tie it off.

(I'm not sure if 'tie it off' is the right way to say what I mean. If it's not, tell me so I can improve my English)

  11. 11

Well, this is the difficult part. Find the middle of the fabric and insert a pin.

  12. 12

Find the middle of the two parts and put a pin in the middle next to the first pin (red one).

  13. 13

Do it again. It should look like this.

  14. 14

Now you're going to sew it. You are sewing it 8 times. Try to sew as long as possible.

NOTE: Your sewing machine is probably going to hate you.

  15. 15

My sewing machine did, so it looks very very ugly. But you can't see it on the picture.

  16. 16

If you turn the inside in and the outside out again, it should look like this.

  17. 17

Now, place the buttons. Sew the beak after step 18!

OH! I forgot to make a picture of the part you put the shoe lace through the tunnel with the safety pin.

  18. 18

Place the press stud. Now cover the thread with the beak.

  19. 19

    Cut a square.

  20. 20

    Sew and tie off.

  21. 21

Decide where you want the handle, pin and sew.

  22. 22

Now you're finished and it should look like this.

  23. 23

And this. Any questions? Please ask me!
