Ottoman: Extreme Makeover

Tonight’s Extreme Makeover Ottoman style! This has been probably one of my biggest transformations yet. I had an old coffee table that my parents gave back to me when we bought the house – I had made this really great coffee table in middle school shop class….well there is a good possibility my shop teacher made most of it! Haha! My parents actually had it in their house for years in their family room. I said that I would take it and I was planning on repainting it and using in our new home. I didn’t really have a great spot for it in my family room or living room. I saw a lot of coffee tables turned into ottomans online. I loved the idea and was so excited to transform my coffee table! I had seen other projects such as this on Pinterest and decided to use Not So Newleywed McGees blog as a reference when working on my ottoman.

Instructions

  1. Small 109496 2f2015 07 16 012758 ottoman%2bbefore

    The Ottoman Before! :)

  2. Small 109496 2f2015 07 16 012829 ottoman%2blegs

First I painted the legs with one of my favorite colors...Accessible Beige from Sherwin Wiliams. I then added 2x4s around the table so that the edges were even.

  3. Small 109496 2f2015 07 16 013019 ottoman%2bpadding

I then drilled holes into the top of the table to use as a guide later on when tufting. Once the holes were drilled I then adheared the foam to the table with spray adhesive.

  4. Small 109496 2f2015 07 16 013339 ottoman%2bbatting

Once the foam was set and dry I covered the table batting and attached it with a staple gun.

  5. Small 109496 2f2015 07 16 013433 ottoman%2bfabric

I then attached the fabric to the table with a staple gun.

  6. Small 109496 2f2015 07 16 014222 ottoman%2btufting

Tufting is the next step and there are many tutorials online on how to do it. I used the method of using extra fabric to hold the thread in place. You can find the tutorial on Youtube. Once the tufting was finished my ottoman was done! :) For more info on this project please head on over to my blog! :)
