About

Although the mouse is very friendly to people and has become one of the most popular animals to keep as a pet, we are not so happy if we find that one has sneaked into the house and is living behind a hole in the wall. Start with the diamond shape, one of the basic origami techniques, then straighten the tail and adjust the shape of the ears if you want to make him cuter.

You Will Need (1 thing)

  • 1 sheet of 6 in (15 cm) square Paper

Steps (18 steps, 15 minutes)

  1. 1

With the design side facing down, fold the paper in half from corner to corner through the design and open out, then fold the two left-hand edges in so that they meet along the central crease.

  2. 2

Now fold over the right-hand sides in the same way.

  3. 3

Open up the top flap just made and lift the corner of paper out. Turn it across to the left and place it back on the center line, pressing it down to form a new triangular shaped flap.

  4. 4

Repeat the process on the bottom flap.

  5. 5

Turn the newly made flaps back to the right, then fold the diagonal edge of the top flap back to the left...

  6. 6

so that it runs down vertically from the top point.

  7. 7

Fold the upper flap to the left, then turn the flap’s bottom point up over the horizontal edge of the flap.

  8. 8

    ...

  9. 9

Repeat the last two steps on the lower flap.

  10. 10

Turn the paper over and fold over the left-hand point, making a crease just where the design of the nose becomes visible...

  11. 11

then fold over the left-hand sides so that the vertical edges meet along the central crease.

  12. 12

Fold the model in half along the central crease.

  13. 13

Fold the ears back, ensuring that the vertical edges now run along the top edge of the model, and making new diagonal creases.

  14. 14

Fold over the right-hand end at an angle to make a crease, then open up the model and refold the point inside...

  15. 15

reversing the direction of the creases where necessary.

  16. 16

Fold the right-hand end back up, making the new creases as high up as possible inside the model.

  17. 17

Fold the back of the tail inside itself, running the edge along the crease in the middle of the tail, to give it a straight edge. Repeat on the other side of the tail.

  18. 18

Finish by opening up the ears and pressing them flat.
