Do you think using mesh paper for the cranes would look good?

probably you'd probably see more of the actual light as apposed to a glow, post in the versions if you try it id love to see it

never heard of that. i just use Leds because they are designed not to get hot

Use flame retardant spray on the paper first if you want to be sure they're safe.

be carefull using regular christmas lights they get hot and may catch fire to the paper, i havent had it happen to mine with the LEDs but i dont leave them on for a long time.
