This 8-piece modular origami star requires no tape or glue to create. In the end the 8 pieces will interlock, creating the finished product. These are great ornaments to put on Christmas trees or just around the house. Happy Folding! Design by Michael G. LaFosse

Take one of your 8 papers and fold it in half diagonal. Unfold.
Now let’s make a kite base. Fold the bottom edges to the middle crease you created in step one.
Fold the top left edge of your paper to the center crease your created in step one.
Unfold
Turn the piece over
Fold the top left edge of you paper to the center crease, but this time don’t unfold.
Fold the bottom to the top
You now have one module. It sorta looks like a pyramid.
Now... make 8 of em When finished making each module it may help to place them under a book to keep them flat.
Ok! When you have completed all 8 modules take 2 and lay them next to each other. We are now going to interlock them. Slide the left module into the other ones left slot or pocket.
It should look like this. Turn the pieces over.
Now gently tuck the corner of the right module (your right) into the pocket of the left module. ( Sorry if this is confusing!)
This is what it should now look like
Now focus your attention to the circled area. Fold that corner back over the edge of the right module so it is out of sight.
This is what it should look like
Now, Gently fold back along the existing crease ( where the black line is in the picture) along the edge of the right module. This is now locking the 2 modules together.
It should look like this
Now keep adding and interlocking modules
Half way.....
Ok! When you get to the final modules you may need to be very gentle in easing the two together.
The complete Star!
