This project may be small, but it makes for a big improvement on an otherwise plain shirt. Note: The more precisely you line up your edges at every step of the ironing, the better your overall project will be!

Begin by marking a square 81⁄2 x 81⁄2 inches (21.5 x 21.5 cm) on your fabric and cutting it out.
On the backside of the fabric square, draw a line on each of the sides 1⁄2 inch (12 mm) from the edge.
Give the fabric a spray of starch, then fold each edge on the lines and iron flat.
Fold in half diagonally with wrong sides together and iron flat.
Follow the illustrated steps, ironing after each of the folds (E, F, G, H). Spray the fabric with the starch as you work, if needed.

Topstitch the inner portion on both ears, and then sew the top portion of the cat’s head.
Pin the pocket onto your preferred area of the shirt.
Securely Topstitch from the top-outer point of the left ear, down and around the bottom of the head, and back up until you get to the top of the right ear. You could also use a Double-Running Stitch if you’re sewing by hand. Note: If you’re topstitching using a sewing machine, experiment with stitch settings on a similar piece of fabric as your shirt, and choose the stitch length that best complements your fabric.
