This is my first tutorial so please bare with me! Also please excuse my man hands! I dont know why they are looking so big, I have to say it was rather difficult trying to take pictures of the action with one hand! But I hope you find this easy to follow.
This is my first tutorial so please bare with me! Also please excuse my man hands! I dont know why they are looking so big, I have to say it was rather difficult trying to take pictures of the action with one hand! But I hope you find this easy to follow.
Start with a square of paper, fold it diagonally both ways and then in half both ways (should look like this if you unfold it). Leave the last fold folded so you have a rectangle.
(this is the picture i stuggled the most with). Take each top corner and fold them inwards to the middle so you make a triangle.
You will find you have a top layer and a bottom layer. Take the bottom tip of the top layer on one side and fold it up towards the top tip. Do the same again on the other side.
Turn the paper over and fold the bottom up to the top but leave about a thumbs size overhang at the top. The over hang will become the head later on. (the amount you leave will depend on the size of the paper you start with)
this bit is also quite tricky. Turn the paper over again. you will have two top tips, take one down. As you take it down the side will try to bend in, help it to bend and flattern it (as im trying to show you in the picture?!?!)
Do the same on the other side and it should look like this...
Turn the paper over once again. Take the over hang from earlier and fold it down flat against the top of the paper. then fold the tip back up to create the head. it should look like this when done.
Fold the butterfly in half back on its self (it should start looking like a butterfly now, We're almost there!)
Imagine 2 lines down the butterflies body, I've drawn them in to help you. Fold both wings forward along these lines (i tend to do it with the body still folded in half, i've just opened it to show you the lines)
Thats it! One beautiful butterfly.
