A simple, yet cute, phone cozy to keep your phone safe from scratches

I've been looking for a nice and simple cozy for my phone, because I just haven't found one I like in the stores. (Plus, I don't want to pay that much for them!) This is my 3rd attempt (with different materials) and I like it the most so far! This is hand sewn and would have take much less time if I had a sewing machine! I think I will be adding a little handle or something with which I can attach my phone to stuff and/or a charm to my phone cozy. Phone dimensions: 5,6cm x 11,3cm Coze dimension: 6,8cm x 13,0cm

Instructions

  1. Small phone cozy1 1298375439

Cut a strip of fabric a bit wider than your phone (to allow for seams). Make the length of the fabric at least 2 lengths (plus a bit more for seams) of your phone. I wanted two layers of fabric for my cozy, so the length of the material should be a bit more than 4 lengths of your phone.

  2. Small phone cozy2 1298376524

Here you can see my phone laid out on the fabric. This is supposed to be 2 times my phone length, plus about 3cm longer (1,5cm on each end). (Ignore gap where the fabric isn't touching in the middle, it should have been touching, but my fabric wasn't long enough.)

  3. Small phone cozy4 1298376547

Turn the fabric over so that the inside of the cozy is touching the table.

  4. Small phone cozy5 1298376580

Fold the fabric in half, so the tops of the fabrics are touching (right side in the photo). I have pinned it so the pieces don't move while I hand sew it.

One side is fully hand sewn with blanket/crochet stitch. The little insert shows how the top corner has been reinforced with a few stitches in the same place. I didn't want the opening of my cozy to accidentally come undone.

Once both sides are sewn, turn it right side out. It's almost done! Sew on the snap fasteners, 1 on each side, near the top of the cozy. I wanted a way to close my cozy so my phone didn't slide out onto the floor. :=O
