You Will Need (5 things)
- Polyfill Stuffing
- Needle & Thread
- Craft Felt
- Eyes
- Optional: Embroidery Hoop
Steps (8 steps, 60 minutes)
-
1
Cut out pattern or make your own!
I found it easiest to cut out the shapes & pin them on the fabric. You can cut the eyes & the wings out at the same time, if your scissors are serated. -
2
Place the belly & eyes
Fold your owl in half & pin at the crease. Place the belly all the way at the bottom of whichever side you want to be the front. Pin the eyes where you want them to be. Again, it's up to you! -
3
Sew the eyes & belly & nose
I used cream thread for both the eyes & the belly. Superglue or embroider your eyes on. -
4
Embroider your "tag"
I put my initials on the butt of the owl. If you are going to embroider anything, make sure to do it BEFORE you sew the owl shut & put polyfill in to him... because it is WICKED difficult when he is full of cotton. -
5
Sew him shut, REMEMBER TO LEAVE A HOLE!
Turn him inside out & sew all the way around, but REMEMBER to leave a hole! I left the open hole at the bottom. Do whatever is easiest for you! I usually leave about 1.5". Turn him inside out again so that you don't see the stitching. -
6
Fill him & sew him shut
Fill him with polyfill. I usually use a chopstick or pencil to make stuff the polyfill inside with, so as to make sure to get the filling in those hard-to-reach places. When you have him as fat/skinny as you want him-sew him shut! -
7
Place & sew on wings
You could probably do this before you stuff him, but I found that based on how skinny/fat I stuffed my ollys, the wing shape had to be adjusted accordingly. -

Et Voila!
I made a limerick to go with mine:in the land of the bay, bridge & trolley
lived a fat, felt, stuffed owl named olly
he's flown all night long
just to sing you this song
merry xmas to you from molly!
