I was in a delima for what to be for halloween this year, and looked at the pile I had for things to vamp that I didn't like how they were currently or wanted to use the material for something else. Seeing a nightgown, I came up with this idea. Thankfully It turned out alright.

First, get an old nightgown, or really any old dress that you want to change a bit. This is the one I used. And for what I did, the longer the better.
Snip...snip...snip. Cut off the part with the breasts and handles, and you basically got yourself a skirt that just doesn't conform to anything.
I have no idea what it is called. But you use one of these things and after deciding how you want the dress to fit, put on a snap fastener or two, so it fits properly and you can easily take it on and off...depending on how tight the snaps fit together.
And you have your new dress. I always liked the puffyness in the back like that, and wanted to do it, so I did it. You can make yours however you want to though, which may involve cutting and sewing. The next few are just what I decided to do. Not necessary at all.
Add an apron, and I got myself a maid ^-^ And seeing as you don't want to waist everything that was cut off...
I cut off some of the lace that was part of the breast part of the nightgown and made a lacy headband to go with the maid outfit I've just made. Just in time for Halloween.
