This is extreme comfort food. It isn't fancy, just creamy, rich, yumminess. If someone you know is feeling down, just give 'em a big ol' slice of this and make 'em feel better!

This is extreme comfort food. It isn't fancy, just creamy, rich, yumminess. If someone you know is feeling down, just give 'em a big ol' slice of this and make 'em feel better!

Instructions

  1. First make your Never Fail pie crust 3 cups flour 1 tsp. salt 1 1/4 cup vegetable shortening 1 egg, beaten 1/3 cup cold water 1 tbs. vinegar Mix the flour and salt. Cut in the shortening. Combine remaining ingredients and stir into shortening mixture. Let stand a few minutes. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to desired thickness. (This makes 3-4 pie shells)

  2. The Filling 11/3 cup sugar 2 tsp.flour 1/2 tsp salt 3 eggs 3 cups milk butter 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1 9" pie shell Combine sugar, flur, and salt with eggs and mix until smooth. Heat milk to boiling point. Add 1 cup hot milk to egg mixture slowly and then pour in remaining hot milk. Pour into unbaked pie shell. Dot with butter Sprinkle with nutmeg. Bake at 350* for 40-45 minutes. For variations you can sprinkle with cinnamon too or spread some coconut on top. You can also add a tsp. of vanilla if you want to.
