About
Our friend, Amanda, came over with a dress that was falling apart and she had in her closet for a long time. She left it with me for a few days. I cut off the top, added a t-shirt sleeve top band and a few buttons, just because I love buttons :-). There was a small hole that I fixed with a piece from the area I cut off. Then I know how she loves pockets and the arm pit area had a great V shape so I used that area for the packet. I know, awwwwww an arm pit, but hey it is just a pocket. LOL She looks so cute in it :-)

I don't have a picture of the original dress but it was one of those one size fits all kind that tie in the back. They are always so soft but fall apart at a fast rate. So I decided to make a make skirt for her. I decided on the length and measure from the bottom top and cut it to exactly that length.

Next I took 2 t-shirt sleeves left over form a project and made a waist band that would fit her snuggly but not to tight, when stretched out. I attached the band to the top of the skirt, right sides together and sewed them together. I stretched the t-shirt band as needed to matched the band and used A LOT of pins.

Next I realized there was a hole in the front so I cut a piece off the left over top section and appliqued it over the hole. Next, since I realized how much Amanda likes her pockets I decided to give her one. As I was getting ready to cut out a piece of scrap, then hem it, I realized the arm pit area of the dress would make the perfect top to a pocket. It is just a pocket and not like it will be around her face or anything like that.

Here is a picture of the entire skirt. The buttons added a nice touch and held down the yoga band nicely. Doesn't Amanda SOOOOOOOOO ROCK this skirt!!!!!!!
