I love playing with new shapes. This is my take on the Octagon. Of course, they don't tessellate naturally, so you'll need small squares to fill the gaps.
I love playing with new shapes. This is my take on the Octagon. Of course, they don't tessellate naturally, so you'll need small squares to fill the gaps.
Begin with a magic circle. 8 dc, ss to first st
(dc, ch 1, dc) in each (The first dc is of course 3 ch)
(2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in each 1 ch space (First dc = 3 ch)
(dc, ch 2, dc )in each 2 ch space, dc, htr, dc along sides in between stitches of round 3 (First dc = 3 ch)
3 sc in each 2 ch space, sc in each stitch along the sides. Fasten off yarn and weave in ends.
To make the small square for filling the gaps, begin with magic circle Round 1 : 4 x 3 hdc groups separated by 4 x 2 ch corners Round 2 : (hdc, ch 1, hdc) in each 2 ch space,1 hdc in each stitch along sides Round 3 : 3 sc in each 2 ch space, 1 sc in each stitch along sides These squares will have the same stitch count along the sides as one edge of an octagon.
