if you wanted you could later sew in some stabilizer
to add stiffness to the upper layer. you could also add
a liner in case some skin peeks through--you're covered.
if you're really into preserving the skirt buy a bottle or
two of modge podge and evenly distribute it over the newspaper strips. it'll strength and last awhile longer.
I had some clear duct tape to strengthen the wraist area. I'd say I had to be very careful when wearing it (actually only that half an hour when I was performing). Newspapers are simply too 'fragile'.. But there are many 'layers' of them, so it doesnt matter much even if some pieces are ripping..
that is too cool...how did you keep it from ripping? i made one once and i taped the inside with clear duct tape so it wouldnt rip. i made sure not to use it on the outside of the skirt because the lights would create too much glare and it would lose the whole "recycle effect"
