I found the easiest way to do this was to sort of press the paper down onto your nails, and use your fingernails to smooth it down into the corners, then you have a guide to cut out along. I hope that made sense. I also recommend not using a yellowish base/top coat. Usually it doesn't matter for polish but the paper picks up that yellowish tint. I really like these, and I know they'll look better when my nails have had a chance to grow a little longer :)
