I started out with a really ugly chair. Since I did not want to go down the old lady route- covering every imaginable surface with those hideous tablecloth-like monstrosities that supposedly protect furniture from wear and tear and dust and such... I had a bunch of red velvet lying around so which I decided to utilize. I took the velvet and measured the right piece the lazy way- by putting it on the chair and cutting by eye. Then I folded the edges as neatly as I could, stapled them to the bottom of it, found some ribbons to tie to the legs... and voila :D I think the thought process took more time than the actual project.
