Necomimi sent us an amazing pair of their Brainwave Cat Ears to test out and we couldn't wait to try making our own ears for them!
Necomimi sent us an amazing pair of their Brainwave Cat Ears to test out and we couldn't wait to try making our own ears for them!
We're going to start by making our paper template. Remove the ears from your Necomimi headband and lay it on top of a piece of paper. Get your pencil and sketch out the shape of your new ears. Cut this out.
Now sketch out the base of the ear, using the headband to get the width of the base and your previous template to get the length.
Trace the shape of the mechanical ear stub in to the center of the ear base template and cut this out.
Pin your templates on to black felt.
Cut out your felt pieces, including four black ears, two black ear bases and two pink ear inners.
Cut a rectangle of felt and pin it around the mechanical ear stub, at the top and side edges, so that it fits on snuggly.
Stitch along the top and side edges.
Make two of these and place them on the mechanical ear stub to make sure they fit tightly.
Thread your needle with black thread.
Place the rectangle inside one of the ear bases and stitch together.
Check to make sure it fits on the ear stub again.
Now pin the pink inner on top of the black ear.
Stitch in place.
Place the second black ear on top, so that the wrong sides are facing out and pin in place.
Stitch around the top edges.
Place the ears on top of your ear stub covers.
Pad with stuffing
Pin the edges closed.
Sew in place.
You're all finished. Trim any loose threads and place on your headband!
