Nature Inspired Wedding

Wedding decorations on a budget (A VERY TIGHT ONE)

I just got married in June and we were on a VERY tight budget. I wanted my decorations to be nature inspired. This is what I came up with.... Instead of a veil I had a large glittery butterfly in my hair. My bouquets were silks so that the girls could keep them indefinitely....and my Cousin & I could make them waaaaay ahead of time =) I made the Invitations (hand stamped) and the programs (fan shaped-got the idea from The DIY Bride by Khris Cochran.) Our church is usually pretty warm..especially with all the people in it =) Church decorations were very simple yet elegant- I used tulle bows and ting ting (to keep cost down I waited until these things went on sale or I had a coupon) I also bought 2 HUGE Boston ferns from my local Home Depot store ($7 dollars each!) They sat on pedestals in front of the church and were so very beautiful!! Luckily my cousin makes cakes.....saved a TON of $$ there....I supplied the butterflies and ribbon. Bought a whole case of butterflies online for about $45 and I decorated everything with them...including my bridesmaids' hair. The cake table was decorated with terrariums. The jars I purchased at a second hand store. Bought small plants at a greenhouse (on sale) I also found these cute little mushoom topiary things...$5 ea. The gift table was decorated with branches that I collected in our grove. I then added some lighted branches and butterflies in a container I already had at home. The tables at the reception were decorated with bubble bottles (on sale,) tied with ribbon and tags I made myself. I also placed Ball canning jars with raffia bows, plants and battery operated tea lights on the tables surrounded with moss and small pinecones. Thanks to my Grandmother I had a TON of canning jars. I also placed small gift boxes with candy that I hand stamped "Thank you" on. With help from a small crew of people we got everything decorated at the hall and church in one night =) Made for a very stress-free and inexpensive wedding. All in all I think I spent less than $500 on decorations for everything....including my wedding flowers.
