Those natural makeup tips and tricks that will help you to camouflage breakouts and look so fresh that nobody will ever notice what a helluva skin problems you are dealing with.
When your skin is irritated but you still want to apply makeup, it’s important to prep your skin properly. Wash your skin with non-irritating cleanser (I usually use Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser).
Apply Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2 that smooths your skin and helps you apply makeup more evenly. I like that it leaves a refreshing after-scent on your skin and also helps to visibly shrink pores. Follow this with Origins Original Skin Renewal Serum with Willwoherb, a natural product that blurs your skin a little bit and adds a natural glow. I’ve been using this product at night only and then experimented and found it’s the best base for makeup. Now I am using it in the morning and highly recommend you do the same if you want your perfect skin back.
It’s time for Maybelline Better Skin Foundation (c/o), a revolutionary product that not only helps to hide your blemishes, but also helps to heal pimples and scars while you are wearing your makeup. Sounds like a miracle, right? Over the course of the last couple of weeks I’ve used all sorts of treatments (you can find the full list here), and I believe this product is one of those that helped me recover more quickly.
Right after you finish with foundation, apply your favorite lip-gloss (I use Cynthia Rowley Beauty Creamy Lip Stain in Poppy). Usually, I do it at the end, but in a situation with breakouts you want to see which shade highlights and which one helps to hide reddish spots on your skin. When you decide on the shade of your lipstick, you can pick your eye shadow color accordingly. Then, apply highlighter Benefit Cosmetics Watt’s Up! Highlighter on the top and bottom of your lip.
I use different eye shadow palettes every day, and today I picked e.l.f. Studio Party Ready Eyeshadow Palette (c/o). It is a very affordable (just $10) eye shadow set that consists of silky-smooth shadows you can use during the day and at night. Apply a classic beige shade all over your lids using e.l.f. Studio Eyeshadow “C” Brush. Then switch to the purple shade from the palette and apply it like eyeliner, using Eco Tools Bamboo Flat Eyeliner Brush.
Our goal is to create a glowing look that turns people’s attention from the condition of your skin to your eyes and lips. When I don’t sleep enough or don’t feel particularly well, I often apply a beige eyeliner on the bottom eyelid. The same works when your skin is not feeling okay. Use Rimmel London ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner in Nude.
It’s time for a concealer. Even though Maybelline Better Skin Foundation is very good for camouflaging breakouts, today we would need to highlight eyes a bit more. Apply L’Oréal Studio Secrets Magic Lumi Highlighter under your eyes and on the inner sides.
Apply highlighter (I used Benefit Cosmetics Watt’s Up! Highlighter) on your cheekbones and under the brow. Since your skin is irritated, avoid putting this product directly on your face. Use your fingertips instead and wash your hands every time after you touch your face. By doing so, you are avoiding spreading bacteria all over your makeup products. I usually use the same shade of highlighter that I used on my cheeks, but you can also pick a highlighter that is one shade lighter than the one you used on your cheeks.
Apply your favorite mascara (I used Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Super Curling & Lifting Mascara) and brush your eyebrows a little bit using e.l.f. Essential Clear Brow & Lash Mascara (c/o). The latest product is 2-in-1 so you can save the other side for other looks; for instance, when you make an accent on your lips.
Finish up with a bit of your favorite blush (I used Chanel Joues Contraste in Pink Explosion). The foundation we used creates a matte effect so you need to add just a bit of color to your cheeks.
