Well, this is an idea I've been playing around with for awhile. So my dad's 40th birthday rolled around and I knew I had to make this for him. At first, I was going to carve a mustache from a square cake but then I saw this idea on a blog (I can't remember what the link was, sorry ><) Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures as I went along. Next time I make it(I will make it again, hopefully soon)I will take pictures. I hope this is straight forward. If you have any questions, feel free to ask :)

Bake a circle cake. From scratch or from a cake mix, it really doesn't matter. Go with what you know :) Now, I've been baking for a few years so I just made a simple white cake using my trusty recipe.
Let it cool. Once its cooled, cut it into a ying-yang shape. I really wish there was something I could do to make this part easy but its not. Just go with your gut and make the cut as even as possible. You will only need to cut ONCE- this will give you two pieces.
Flip one of the pieces and connect them together. I found the icing helped them stay together. Then I just iced the cake with chocolate icing. I used a fork to make lines along the mustache (so it looked like hair)
