This easy peasy project is perfect for those odd socks (why is it only one ever goes missing? And it's always the new socks too!). You could also use it as a decor piece for a little girls room.

Material List; 1 Sock, crew length 10 x 20cm fabric or felt (non-stretch) Toy stuffing Toy pellets, rice or a few pebbles Tools: Needle and Thread Scissors Pins
Cut the toe off the sock as shown in diagram. Cut a section ankle band off sock approximately 5cm (2 inches) long and 3cm (1 inch) wide as shown.
Using the attached pattern pieces, cut two circles from felt or fabric – large will be the mushroom head, small will be the stalk base. Now you should have all the mushroom pieces.
Take ankle piece of sock, place right sides together and sew a seam from top to bottom. This will be the stalk.
Place the stalk on remaining circle of fabric (right sides together) sew right around the base - by hand is usually easiest.
Flip right way out, your stalk should look something like this.
Flip the toe piece of sock inside out, place right sides together with the mushroom head circle. Pin into place (this is important) and sew around the edges, leaving a 2cm/1 inch gap for stuffing. This step can be done by machine or hand.
Flip the sewn head right way out then stuff the mushroom head until it's nice and plump. Massage out any lumps and bumps.
Hand stitch the gap closed.
Fold the ankle band inside the stalk and stuff with toy pellets, rice or little pebbles. Whatever you decide to use, it just needs to have some weight to it.
Sew stalk to the head of the mushroom - if you're having trouble with the stuffing falling out you may like to pin it in place first.
Done - pop some pins in the top or you could sew on some buttons for spots.
