Peas Take green clay, cut and roll into 1/32 in (1mm) balls. Make a large batch and set aside.
Carrot Take translucent orange clay and roll out as thin as possible. Use a bare craft blade to cut the clay into 1/32 x 1/8in (1 x 3mm) and 1/32 x 5/16in (1 x 8mm) strips to resemble grated carrot. Make a large batch and set aside.
Beef Take brown clay and marble it with a little beige clay to create light streaks within the clay. Roll out to 1/32in (1mm) thick, then texture the surface using scrunched-up tin foil. Use a bare craft blade to cut the clay into a variety of small shapes. Set aside.
Take a miniature ceramic bowl and half-fill it with beige clay. Flatten the clay to a neat finish to create a false bottom within the bowl.
Take some of the peas, carrot and beef made previously and layer them into the bowl.
Noodles Take white clay and mix with a little yellow clay to create soft cream. Roll the cream clay into lots of fine noodles about 1/64in (0.5mm) thick. Twist and coil the noodles into the bowl, sporadically applying peas, carrot and beef as you go. Take your time to make and add as many noodles as necessary to fill the bowl.
Chopsticks Take a small piece of balsa wood and use a steel ruler and craft knife to cut two slightly tapered chopsticks 1/32 x 19/16in (1mm x 4cm) long. Use a nail file or fine sandpaper to gently sand down and smooth each chopstick.
Position the two chopsticks onto the bowl of noodles. Drape some of the noodles over the chopsticks. Set aside.
Boiled egg Take white clay and roll into a 3/16in (5mm) ball. Cut the ball in two using a bare craft blade to create a halved boiled egg.
Use a large embossing tool to press a shallow indentation (off-centre) into the flat side of each egg.
Take a little yellow clay and roll into two 1/8in (2mm) balls. Place and flatten the yellow balls directly into the indentations made in Step 10 to resemble egg yolks.
Use your fingers to delicately shape the two egg halves until you are happy with how they look. Apply a little texture to the egg yolks using a pokey tool, then position the eggs onto the noodles. Set aside.
Miso soup Take white clay and roll out to 1/8in (2mm) thick. Use a bare craft blade to cut the clay into twelve 1/8in (2mm) tofu cubes. Mix green and black clay to create forest green. Make two simple stems from forest green and white clay; these will be grated later.
Take green clay and mix with a little black to create forest green. Roll the clay out as thin as possible and tear into a variety of small pieces. These will resemble seaweed in the miso soup.
Soup spoon Use photographic reference to shape a traditional 1 3/16in (2cm) Chinese soup spoon out of white clay. Use a large embossing tool to give the bowl of the spoon rounded definition. Gather all the items made in Steps 1–15 and bake for the recommended times.
Take liquid polymer clay and blend it with a little beige powdered pastel. Take a miniature wooden bowl and half-fill it with the beige liquid polymer clay. Take all the miso soup ingredients made in Steps 13–15 and assemble them as desired in the beige liquid as pictured. Bake for a second time for the recommended time.
Take the forest green and white stems made in Step 13 and grate them. Take the previously baked miso soup and apply clear gloss to the surface. Lightly sprinkle the gloss with the grated green and white stems and finish with a dusting of powdered black pastel. Leave to dry completely.
Take the previously baked noodles and gently separate them from the bowl (they should come away easily). Apply glue to the inside of the bowl and press the contents back in place. With a fine paintbrush, apply red acrylic paint to the ends of the chopsticks.
Glaze the noodles with a generous amount of opaque honey deco gel. Apply a little opaque yellow deco gel to the egg yolks.
Finish off by lightly dusting the noodle bowl with powdered black pastel to resemble black pepper. Leave to dry completely.
