Begin body of scarf: cast on 41 stitches, and follow the pattern chart for 258 rows, ending with row 16. Bind off.
Work frills: at each end of the scarf, pick up and knit 40 stitches from the cast on or bound off edge. Fol- lowing the edging (frill) chart, begin with k1, repeat the five numbered stitches across, end k2. Continue following the chart for 12 rows; the stitch count will increase to 120.
After completing row 12, bind off in knit and purl as indicated at the top of the chart.
