I was bored and I'm kinda in love with the mad hatter...so I made this.
I was bored and I'm kinda in love with the mad hatter...so I made this.
first cut out a circle a little bigger than the toilet paper roll end. Cut out another circle bigger than the other circle. glue the toilet paper roll to the smaller circle. this is the top of the hat.
cut out a large circle of fabric and set the top circle of the hat down on it. pull the fabric over the sides into the inside of the tube. staple near the bottom so when you apply the ribbon it will be hidden.
now take the larger circle and put it face down on the material. pull it again to the middle of the bottom of the circle staple in the middle and sew around the edge. cut off any excess fabric off the bottom of your hat.
glue the tube part of the toilet paper roll to the TOP of the base.
next get some long ribbon and cut "v"'s in the ends.(the tails) put the straight side against the edge of the hat and glue. next wrap around some ribbon on the base covering the staples and tail ends.
The base is now done so get two toothpicks and make one shorter by breaking off a part. roll in gold paint till its all covered and let it dry halfway then wipe off. the toothpicks will be stained gold.
find some old pendants or charms. luckily for me I found a bag of old jewelry with a leaf pendant on it. It was a different shade of gold so I dipped it in the paint. Once dry glue to the toothpick do the same with another charm. arrange them tucked inside the ribbon.
get a small piece of paper and write 6/10 or any other fraction and glue it in the ribbon near the tooth picks.
since glue doesn't stick to plastic get a nail file and sand off where you want to glue the hat onto. Glue hat to the head band and you're done!
