A tiny crown, inspired by the lolita crowns and hats that I've seen in cons. I thought I'd give it a try, and this is the result! Most of the items can be aquired from Wal-mart for reasonably cheap, with the exception of tulle and lace. Hope you guys enjoy!

Take a sheet of craft foam and cut it so that you have a long, three inch tall strip. Say hello to the beginning of your crown!
Next, make a pattern for what you want the top of your crown to look like. I'm choosing to have a simple triangle pattern for this one. You want to have the beginning and end of your pattern end at the low point of the design so that it is symmetrical when we glue it together.
Draw the pattern and cut the crown!
Now, take an iron and iron your crown peice on medium to high heat. MAKE SURE you have a cloth on top so that the iron doesn't come in direct contact with the craft foam. It takes about 30 seconds to a minute for the craft foam to get nice and toasty!
While warm and floppy, form the strip into a nice circle and wait for the strip to cool. This step helps the craft foam retain it's shape. Be warned though, the craft foam is easily prone to indents from sharp things! (I.E fingernails) When cool, glue the edges together.
When the glue is dry, paint over the crown with a similar color of the foam. Stroke the brush from one edge to the other to ensure nice, even painting! The paint tends to soak in since the craft foam is pourous, so you may need mulitple coats. Since I'm using a flat black, I only used one. Go and enjoy some relaxing time while the paint dries :)
Using the other sheet, draw 2 circles using your crown as a guide, one drawn on the inside, and another using the outside.
Using the larger circle, cut two small slits into the middle of the circle, about 3/4 inch apart. This is where the headband goes! Glue the bottom to the crown together. We'll put the headband in after the next step.
Take your lace and wrap it around your crown, leaving a little less than an inch at the end. Next, take the lace and either glue or sew the ends together. Position the lace circle onto your crown and secure with glue.
OPTIONAL--- If you want your crown to have a little more frill to it, take the smaller circle and cut a few larger, rough circles from tulle. Glue the tulle circles to the small circle and place it into the crown Note: it may be easier to insert the headband into the bottom before putting the tulle circle in. Since the circle fits snugly in shape with the crown it doesn't need to be glued, so it can be taken out.
Make a bow out of your ribbon and glue into position! Insert the headband, and voila! Enjoy your tiny crown!
