This is a really simple message board, made with materials you probably have around the house. While mine is rustic, I'd love to see what fabric you use for yours.

Description

This is a really simple message board, made with materials you probably have around the house. While mine is rustic, I'd love to see what fabric you use for yours.

Instructions

  1. Small 111807 2f2015 11 02 144110 dsc07652

First, you need a flat piece of press-board or light-weight wood. I took mine from the bottom of an old drawer. Drill five holes into the wood, evenly spaced to resemble the pattern on the final photo.

Next, stretch your t-shirt over the wood to make sure it fits. It should cover the wood and overlap at least 2" on each side. Then, cut the shirt to make a rectangle of fabric. Place aside.

Then, I covered the board in filling. You can buy new or reuse from an old pillow. Stretch the T-shirt across the filling and flip the entire piece upside down. Using a glue gun, glue the shirt to the back of the wood.

Take a small button and thread it with 3" of wire. Repeat this five times. Set aside.

Then, stretch ribbon, yarn or hemp across the board to make a diamond patter. Keep in place by pinning with the wired buttons.

Finally, pull the wire of the buttons through the drilled holes. Spread the wire as tight as possible, creating tension on the other side. Then, just flip it over and decide how you'd like to hang it. You can add picture wire, clips, or simply lean it.
