Cut Out + Keep

Medieval Necklet Or Circlet

A versatile beaded piece that can be worn 2 ways. Very Gothic in feel.

This bead embroidery piece went together relatively quickly. I measured my neck (13") and cut a piece of pellon 13" long and 3" wide. I selected my focals (I used a large central faceted black glass bead, rectangular, and graduated down with vintage Jet buttons, 2 to a side, and for the final bezelled stones I used small elongated triangular faceted crystals at each end) and glued and/or sewed them down as I went, then I started adding the embroidery around them. My color scheme was black, different hues of purple, and gold. I loosely drew out the shape I wanted for the central widest part then worked down from there by eyeball, letting the focal size dictate the width. I added a drop in the center and used narrow velvet ribbon as a closure. The lengths are generous enough that you can use this piece as a circlet or as a necklet. I nice Medieval piece, goes great with a Gothic ensemble. I wore it Saturday with an all black full length skirt and overbust corset ensemble and it looked pretty fab. My lovely daughter is my model in these photos however.
