• Step 1

  Ok so for the mask bit on this hat I have
  counted off the hat so hopefully it will work
  for you if you try this.

• Step 2

  Abbreviations:
  Ch: Chain stitch
  Tr: Treble stitch
  Dc: Double crochet
  *: repeat to the end of the round
  Sl St: Slip stitch

  1 ½ balls of 8 ply yarn
  Size 3.5 crochet hook

• Step 3

  The Beanie

  Joins are all in top of 3 ch.
  Turn at the end of each round.
  ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ><)))> ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
  Begins at top in the centre.
  Ch 5 sl st in first chain.
  ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ><)))> ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
  Round 1:
  Ch 3, 12 tr in ring. Join with sl st in top of ch . Turn.
  ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ><)))> ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
  Round 2:
  Ch 3, 2 tr in each tr around. Join. Turn.
  ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ><)))> ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
  Round 3:
  Ch 3, *tr in next tr, 2 tr in next tr. Join. Turn.
  ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ><)))> ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
  Round 4:
  Ch 3, *tr in next 2 tr, 2 tr in next tr. Join. Turn.

  Round 5:
  Ch 3 *tr in next 3 tr, 2 tr in next tr. Join. Turn.

  Round 6:
  Ch 3, *tr in next 4 tr, 2 tr in next tr. Join. Turn.

  Round 7 to 17:
  Ch 3, tr in each tr around. Join. Turn.

  If you want to leave as a beanie continue in this step if not go on to step 3

  Round 18 and 19:
  Ch 1, dc in each tr. Join. And weave in ends.

  Step 4

  The eye bit
  work rounds in sc
  sc round a bit so that the line jouining the rounds isnt at the front...
  Chain enough stitches to streach over your eye
  skip enough stitches to create a eye shape hole
  continue with the round
  work 1 or 2 more rounds
  tie off and wear

i am trying unfortunately i lent the original hat pattern to mum who has lost it somewhere and i have the feeling shes done that at school
