This is an iPod cover i made last year after i saw a star shaped iPod nano cover. I have an 80G iPod which would never have fitted in the cute wee star so i had to come up with something else. This is the end result, i've since made two more red mushrooms and one green for friends. Added pictures of the 1-Up and Purple Poison mushrooms!

Cut out shapes from the felt as follows: White Felt - Two mushrooms, one rectangle to cover iPod, one circle and four half circles. Red Felt - Top of mushroom, two rectangles with rounded tops for back cover. It's easiest to sketch out the shape of the mushroom on a bit of paper first and draw round it on the felt. Make sure you make it slightly bigger than the width of your iPod to make sure the iPod fits in.
Sew white circle and half circles onto the red top as shown. Use a simple top stitch.
Sew the red top of the mushroom onto the bigger, white mushroom shape along the join of the bottom of the red top. There is no need to sew the whole way around it at this stage, it will be completed later on.
Fold the big white rectangle in half and sew along two of the open edges, leaving one small side open, this will be where your iPod goes.
Cut matching holes in the inside part you just sewed and the other white mushroom shape that will become the back of your iPod cover.
Pin together once you have done this, making sure the holes for the screen and buttons match up. Stitch around the holes with red thread to make a solid stitching, this will give you a solid red border around the screen and buttons.
Sew two poppers on to the top of the inside rectangle, both sides so you iPod will be secure and not fall out. Also sew poppers onto the outside of the white back mushroom and one piece of rounded red rectangle, which will make up the panel that flips up to cover your iPod screen. A white or red thread can be used for this.
Using red thread sew red panels together using a blanket stitch. Leave the bottom open for the time being.
Sew back panel onto the bottom of the white back mushroom, you may use a sewing machine for this step if you are comfortable doing so, a simple running stitch will suffice. Finish sewing up the back panel at the bottom, once again using a blanket stitch.
Pin the front and back mushrooms together. Stitch around the edges of the mushrooms using the blanket stitch. Making sure to leave the top open for your iPod to go in, Sew the front of the mushroom to the front of the inside section and the back white mushroom to the back of the inside panel.
Put your iPod in its new home and enjoy your tunes safe in the knowledge that your iPod is cosy and protected by many layers of felt if it is ever dropped!
