Print image on iron-on/transfer paper. Remember to print backwards if there is text. Oh look, another Marilyn Monroe pic.
Roll out clay to as thick as you want it, lay image side down and cut around the edge.
Because this image is bigger than an inch, I'm adding holes to each corner so that it will be added to a chain or other jewelry craft.
Baking is slightly different from manufacturer's instructions. After 5 minutes of baking, remove from oven and using burnishing tool to rub image onto clay (you can also use your finger covered with a towel so you won't burn yourself. Press hard and do this for about 30 to 60 seconds. Make sure to burnish corners as well. Put back in the oven and bake for another 15 minutes and burnish again. Do not peel off the paper.
After cooling completely, peel paper from clay. If there are white spots, those are places were the image did not transfer.
Sand the edges if necessary with very fine sand paper or dremel tool. Use X-acto knif to clear holes from the back of the piece. Do this carefully, not to break it.
Coat with protective finish. Let dry, and do the same on the back. You can put as many coats as you like depending on what you are using. Other wise, follow manufacturer's instructions.
Add jump rings and chain of your choice, and it's ready to wear. Note, these pieces can break or crack if bent.
