altered dress pattern

This costume was a labor of love as they say in the creation. First of all, I needed 10 yards of satin, so I cheaped out and bought the really cheap costume satin. It frays badly and made making the costume take so much longer. Secondly, I had to handstitch on all of the details. I am not a big fan of hand stitching. I actually used a dress pattern that I altered by putting on different sleeves, changing the front, etc. The sides poof out because I gathered netting into a sort of bustle on each side. The dress took about a week with all of the hand stitching You can check out my tutorial on mini hats to see how I made the mini tricorn hat. That took about 1-2 hours. I really used up many scraps of lace on that. I made this pattern on the large size so that I could put pajamas and a matching baby blue sweatsuit on my daughter for trick-or-treating. Why spend all of that time to have no one see the costume?
