One of the best ways you can maximize a small space is to paint a chalkboard right onto the wall. If put in an entryway, it is a great place to leave notes and messages. Begin by taping out the area you would like to be your new chalkboard.
Using chalkboard paint, fill in the area inside. To get a nice smooth finish, use a roller to apply on the chalkboard paint.
To make your chalkboard look a little a little better, add a frame around the chalkboard paint. Draw out the style and size of frame you want before painting it in.
Add a little faux wood grain to the frame by lightly painting on lines of Antiquing Glaze. The glaze will dry fairly translucent and give the frame some depth and character.
To finish off your chalkboard, don't forget to season it before writing anything on it. By rubbing a piece of chalk (on its side) all over the board, you will prevent leaving permanent marks on the board when you begin to write on it.
