About

Ever driven through a town rich in graffitti art and get inspired? Well this tutorial will teach you how to make your very own stickers. DISCLAIMER: Graffiti art can come with criminal charges, I don't recommend you go crazy with this project. I do recommend you trade with friends though it's lots of fun to collect and trade.

[[Here in Los Angeles there is a place called Self Help Graphics, They hold events where you can make and trade stickers and get yourself out there. Check your local art stores for posts about these kinds of events.]]

We made these specifically for sticker trades. We aren't taggers nor vandalism advocates. This was simply a project I did for fun.

You Will Need (4 things)

  • standard paper size Label Paper
  • X Acto Knife
  • Different colors Spray Paint varieties
  • sheet Stencil

Steps (6 steps, 120 minutes)

  1. 1

Take a regular image you'd like to copy, make sure the lighting is good.

Go to http://strix.org.uk/stencil/ and use the Generator to upload your image. Pick the one you want, There will be many different images of Contrast and shade, find one that you like best.

  2. 2

This generator allows you the option to add a word or phase to your image, you can choose to do so if you'd like. This is the image I worked with.

  3. 3

you can print this image, if you don't have a printer you can very carefully use your monitor as a lightbox and trace the dark part of the stencil. make sure to capture details that matter, like facial features and such.

  4. 4

Get a sheet of stencil at your local craft store, they usually have a pack of anywhere from 4 sheets to 8.. Reasonably priced.

  5. 5

Carefully use and x-acto knife to cut out the pieces of the positive space in your stencil. This part is tricky. When you are finished you want your entire stencil to be one full unit.

[this stencil looks odd because it has already been used]

  6. 6

Go to your local Staples and buy labels. you want Full sheet labels, they are about the standard size of a piece of paper.

cut them to how you see fit, and lay your stencil on top of them, hold your spraycan above the image and coat it evenly, Dont coat too much because you want to use these stencils again and again.

And there you are! your very own Graffiti Stickers!
