This is a lucky leftover chicken leg charm I made! And... yay! I made a tutorial, so now you can have a lucky leftover chicken leg charm, too! Isn't this like, the greatest day ever?!
This is a lucky leftover chicken leg charm I made! And... yay! I made a tutorial, so now you can have a lucky leftover chicken leg charm, too! Isn't this like, the greatest day ever?!
Okay! To start, take your white string and measure it about six inches. make sure your string isn't too thin or your project will take twice as long to make and look half as nice!
now loop your string back and forth about 10 times. You should have something like this.
now take your string and start wrapping the loops tightly and securely. This step is crucial so that your work doesn't unravel!
once you reach the end of your loops, start wrapping back up the same way you were before. You should have something like this.
now wrap back up your work about half an inch.
fold your work in half and start wrapping both sides together.
once you get up to the top, start wrapping back in the other direction.
once you reach the starting point again, wrap the two visible halves separately until they are in a sort of heart shape. Once finished, secure the string and the ends with a dab from the hot glue gun. Cut off the access.
DON'T JUDGE ME ON THIS NEXT BIT!! Take out your second color of string. Yes, mine is green because I don't have any KFC colored yarn. besides, doesn't it just look more like a leftover this way? anyway, secure this color to the 'bone' of the leg by tying it into a knot at the end.
now wrap tightly around the leg as before, stopping and changing directions about a fourth of an inch from where the trunk of the bone meets the heart shaped bit. then keep wrapping to add width. to create the rounded 'thigh', wrap the string diagonally around the end of the bone.
keep wrapping like this. see it getting wider?
as the thigh starts to get rounder, you can start wrapping the string diagonally lower down the leg in more directions until you have a shape like this.
now start wrapping tightly up the leg. MAKE SURE YOUR HOT GLUE GUN IS PLUGGED IN! start running lines of hot glue up either side of the leg, wrapping quickly around it before the glue hardens! stop wrapping about at the leg's widest point, and cut the string a few inches from the leg. secure the end of the string to the leg with a dab from the hot glue gun. cut off the access once the glue has hardened.
taa daa! Now YOU TOO have a lucky leftover chicken leg! Now add a keychain, a jump ring, whatever! Just make it yours! ;D
