Refashion your old jeans that are too small to fit like a new pair. This project is a great way to use your old jeans. The sides of the jeans are split and a colorful strip of denim is added to increase the waist and leg.
Determine how much width you will add to your old jeans. I added a 4" panel down each leg and into the waist to get them to fit. Cut side seams of old jeans apart from waistband to hem. Remove bulky seam allowances and rivets. Set aside. Cut off legs from several pairs of old jeans. Open the side seams so they lay flat. Using a rotary cutter, cut into 2" wide strips.
Sew 5-6 strips of denim together lengthwise varying colors from light to dark using a 1/2" seam allowance. Press. Turn sewn strips sideways, slice again with rotary cutter into 4" sections making the striped pieces. Stitch pieces together lengthwise until you have enough for both sides of the jeans.
Sew into side seams of jeans with 1/2" seam allowance. Check out the full blog post here: https://chambrayblues.com/2018/10/16/update-your-old-jeans-to-fit/
