How to make a stencil with out a printer
How to make a stencil with out a printer
First find the image you want to use, sometimes you can find pre-marked ones but if you can't its no big deal. Images with one or two colours work best Make sure the image is at the correct size you want it to be while on the PC screen
Scellotape a sheet of paper to the screen, Its best to either stick the tape to the outside of the screen or put it on a jumper or pair of trousers to decrease the stickyness before putting it any where near your moniter
Very carefully and lightly trace the image on to the paper Use a ruler or piece of cardboard to get the lines perfect but you MUST only trace lightly or you risk piercing the paper and moniter (if you are useing one of the old glass ones you are at less risk, There probably the safest way of doing this)
Once you are all traced out you should be able to see a full image when its taken away from the screen
You can now make the lines more prominent if it helps
Shade the parts that will need cutting out you don't have to do it so carefully just enough so you can see where you need to cut, But remember you may need to leave some breaks in the image to the stencil stays in one piece
Remove the cat from the work area
Once you have shaded the area you should have something like this (The cat is optional but her name is Sally and the S looks good on her)
Scellotape the paper to a thicker piece of card
Begin cutting the spaces out with a sharp craft knife and remember to keep some tags in if your image requires a boarder
When its done you should be left with something like this
you may need to go over the card
Remove the cat.... Again
Remove the cut outs and you should be left with this which is perfect for spray paint
If you are planing on useing spray paint and other materials on the stencil its adviseable to use the paper and card togeather just keep the paper secure with scellotape the paper can then be removed and replaced to avoid mess
