Use your old jeans and some cotton quilting scraps to make a cute summer skirt!
Cut off your old jeans just above the crotch, being careful to preserve pockets.
Cut 3 or 4 cotton prints (pre-wash before you cut) into 6" strips the width of the fabric. Turn pieces horizontally and cut again into 11" rectangles. You will need a mixture of colors and patterns for this project. Sew short ends of pieces together using 1/2" seam allowance. You will need a length 1.5 -2 x the length of the bottom cut on the jeans. Make three complete rows of colored pieces the same length. Gather each row with the gathering foot on the sewing machine along the top edge.
Sew one gathered row on to the hem of the jeans. Then add the two additional rows one at a time to achieve the length of skirt you desire. Read the entire blog post here https://chambrayblues.com/2018/06/14/easy-to-make-scrappy-denim-skirt/
