Make A Fall Leaf Wreath

So simple to make and a great way to recycle old cardboard and scrap felt

This is an inexpensive way to change up decorations around your house dependent on the season. You could just as easily change the leaves out for Halloween/Christmas/Winter themes. You're only limited by your imagination (oh..and felt scraps. LOL)

You Will Need (5 things)

  • scrap Felt pieces in fall colors
  • 1 small scrap of Cardboard cut into shape of leaf to be used as template
  • 1 scrap piece of Yarn in coordinating color, making it long enough to hang wreath from
  • 1 bottle of Tacky Glue (or use a glue gun)
  • 1 x square piece Cardboard any size you want to make the wreath

Steps (7 steps, 45 minutes)

    Take a scrap piece of cardboard and lay it out on your work surface. Using an upside down bowl (or any circular object) trace out a circle, then flip the bowl back right side up and center inside first drawn circle to make the inner circle to be cut out. This is, of course, assuming that the bottom of your bowl is a lot smaller than the open end. :)

    Using a scrap of left over cardboard, cut out a leaf shape to use as the template for all of your leaves.

    Carefully lay your leaves out on the bigger, outer circle and glue them together. NOT to the cardboard yet, just to each other by adding a dab of glue underneath the top edge of the leaf that connects it to the leaf in front of it.

    Gently remove this leaf circle and lay it aside while it dries.

    Do the same thing with the inner circle of leaves. Remember to gently remove it from the cardboard circle and lay aside to dry the glue.

    Taking a pencil (or using a small hole punch), punch two holes at the top of the wreath. Then thread your yarn through from front to back and tie a knot in the top. This is for hanging the wreath.

    Finally, spread glue all over the front of the cardboard and lay down the inner circle first. Press firmly into place. Then add the outer ring.

    Let glue dry and then it's ready to hang!
