I have a big tub of air dry clay at home almost all the time. Making dishes, vases, beads, necklaces out of them is what I do on un-inspired cloudy days. It is true. Though it doesn't take a ton of creativity, thinking and rethinking about new ways to make them and dress them up makes even my most boring day joyful. If you haven't tried doing something, anything with air dry/polymer clay or even play dough you must.

Collect all your supplies. I get Crayola's air dry Clay. Take a fist full of clay and roll it into a ball.
With the roller pin, spread the clay ball, to about 1/4 inch thickness. The thickness would be the thickness of the dish.
Now cut the clay circle with the your bowl as a guide.
Now cut out a flower shape in paper and use it as a guide to cut the clay circle in the flower shape with the knife. Add some wedges to define the center and petals carefully with a knife or pencil. Now set this carefully in the bowl (that will give it the shape of bowl) and let dry for a day or two.
Once dry, paint your pretty flower in preferred color.
