The magic loop (also known as magic circle) is an alternative way of starting a round in crochet while avoiding a gap in the center circle. Rather than crocheting a length of a chain that is joined into a circle for the first stitches, start off with a simpe loop of yarn.
The magic loop (also known as magic circle) is an alternative way of starting a round in crochet while avoiding a gap in the center circle. Rather than crocheting a length of a chain that is joined into a circle for the first stitches, start off with a simpe loop of yarn.
Start by placing your tail of your yarn behind your working yarn.
Holding the point where the yarn crosses, insert your hook into the big loop.
Make 1ch ( does not count as a stitch).
Make the first stitch into the loop ( here single crochet). Insert your hook under both strands of yarn (the yarn that forms the loop and the tail).
Continue until you have made as many stitches as are required. Then pull on the end tail to close the center gap.
Join the round with a slip stitch.
