My inspiration: This year I had decided to make all my Christmas presents, so I had a look on the internet at home-made bracelets, and I saw a picture of these I thought it looked easy enough and I had all the things I needed already at home. So I gave it a try, my friends were very impressed and I love how it came out :)
My inspiration: This year I had decided to make all my Christmas presents, so I had a look on the internet at home-made bracelets, and I saw a picture of these I thought it looked easy enough and I had all the things I needed already at home. So I gave it a try, my friends were very impressed and I love how it came out :)
To start with, cut out a template triangle measured, 1 inch on the bottom and 6 inches high, you can do this on cardboard or a old plastic box, like an ice cream tub (I think this works better). This is the shape your magazine strips will be.
Next, find your old magazines, and find a pattern that you might like on a bead, draw around the template ( note the pattern on top of the triangle will be seen most) and then cut out, you should have something that looks like this <<< you can carry on making these or just do them as you go along. You need 30 (ish) to make a whole bracelet.
Now, get your skewer and a magazine triangle and roll the triangle on the skewer from the base to the tip tightly. Then put glue all along the tip, (I then smudged it and pressed it down with my finger so it stays) this should create a bead, repeat this till you have enough to make your bracelet(s) (about 10-15 beads to each skewer).
Once you have all of your beads on your skewers you need to nail polish over them to make them strong, and it gives them a nice finished shine. Wait till its dry then do the next step.
Take the beads off the skewer. Now you can thread your bead on to your elastic, slide the first bead onto the middle of the elastic cord. Then add the next bead by threading one end of the cord through the left side of the bead and the other end of the cord through the opposite side of the bead. Pull the elastic tight. The beads will be next to each other, hopefully like the image shown. Continue adding beads until you have the length that you want.
